Vata Dosha & Balancing Habits

Any kind of movement in the body (solid, liquid, gas and even thoughts) is controlled by Vata. So, vata will be more vigorous when the imbalance would be greater between the two points within the body. This vigor/turbulence makes the person feel uneasy and anxious to any level as it is the flow of energy. Hence, it is very important to balance this dosha. A few symptoms of an imbalanced Vata dosha are as follows:
  • Dry, rough and thin skin and hair
  • Susceptibility to cold and feeling cold in feet and palms.
  • Being underweight
  • Anxiety, restlessness, worrisome and afraid
  • Constipation
  • Insomnia and disturbed sleep at night
  • Severe menstrual cramps and PMT
  • Stiffness in joints
  • Fatigued and poor endurance.

What to do in these symptoms?

This problem can be administered by adopting a few lifestyle changes. These changes are basic but requires conscious effort to bring about the desired changes. The first and foremost is to prefer cooked food over raw food and salads. People with vata dosha should go to bed earlier than the usual time. Massage the body with lukewarm sesame oil. Ensure to have motion on daily basis. For this Triphala Churna and Erand (Castor) Oil. Make it a habit to have a 15–20-minute walk in a quiet and serene environment. There are multiple other ways in which Vata dosha imbalance can be addressed but as discussed in the previous blogs, it is the food that impacts the most. So, we bring here a few food habits to be followed by a person of Vata dosha to maintain the balance.

We shall talk more about specific foods in next blogs, till then stay tuned: www.anjupharma.com
